Chickens

A roasted Madgett’s Farm chicken is in a class of its own, nothing like a supermarket bird. Even better are the cold chicken sandwiches made with the left overs (if you have any).

We raise our Traditional Free range chickens, all year round, they arrive on farm at weeks old in small batches, they settle into their surroundings, in warm straw bedded housing. Once they are fully feathered, they are able to explore and roam freely across our fields. We will then bring them in at night so as not to feed the foxes.

We feed them a natural cereal diet, free of additives and growth promoters. The birds are slowly grown to full maturity; we use a dry plucked system to remove the feathers, which leaves a dry skin, great for crispy skin when cooked.
